Timing belt

Timing belt

The distribution of the car is an important element, since we depend on it for the movement of the vehicle. There are several types and the most common are chain and belt.

The chain presents the advantages of durability, reliability and very low maintenance. Similar to the chain of a bicycle in structure, these chains, although they are not unbreakable, it is difficult to do so. As always, it depends on the driving habits, it is not the same to drive a vehicle that rarely exceeds 4500rpm to one that you stretch above 7000rpm. On the other hand they are a bit noisier, which you solve with better car soundproofing.

The belt has an acceptable durability and the fact that they are economical makes this a more usual option. However, although it is much quieter, it is a weaker system than the chain and its wear is greater, so it is advisable to consult the manufacturer's instructions in order to establish the changes. A belt that starts to fray or loses its properties due to abrupt changes in temperature, overexertion or others, can mean, in case of breakage, that you have to change the engine.

In both cases, our workshop offers you the experience and trajectory necessary to verify the proper functioning of the distribution of your car. For the chain, after 150,000Kms it is convenient to check the status of the same. For the belt, the average would be between 60,000 and 75,000 km to make the change, although there are also cars that by their driving, are changed with 150,000 km without complications. As always, before any noise that is not usual, come, we take a look and discard major problems.
